Dr Sally O'Shea

Consultant Dermatologist

 

Dr. Sally O’Shea is a full-time, accredited Consultant Dermatologist at South Infirmary-Victoria University Hospital, University Hospital Kerry and Cork University Hospital. 

Dr. O’Shea obtained her undergraduate medical degree at University College Cork. She completed basic (MRCPI) and specialist medical training (CSCST) with the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. She undertook a Cancer Research UK Clinical Research Fellowship and was awarded a PhD by the University of Leeds for her work in melanoma epidemiology, digital pathology and transcriptomics. She was also awarded a scholarship by the Health Research Board (Cancer Prevention Fellowship/NCI Summer Curriculum in Molecular Prevention).  

Dr. O’Shea is passionate about pigmented lesions and melanoma. She runs pigmented lesion clinics in both Cork and Kerry. She has expertise in dermoscopy and has provided dermoscopy training courses in the UK. She provides lectures for the Professional Certificate in Clinical Dermatology in UCD. She is involved in teaching medical students and dermatology NCHDs. 

Dr. O’Shea has a keen interest in research and is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists Research Subcommittee. She has authored textbook chapters and several publications in peer-reviewed journals.  

Dr. O’Shea is a member of the Irish Association of Dermatologists, the British Association of Dermatologists and the BAP1-interest group consortium.
