The South Infirmary – Victoria University Hospital was established in 1988 as a result of the amalgamation of the South Charitable Infirmary & County Hospital and the Victoria Hospital.  The Hospital is a 274-bed acute Voluntary Teaching Hospital affiliated to University College Cork and treats approximately 25,000 inpatients and day patients and 60,000 outpatients each year.  Emergency Department deals with 30,000 patients per annum.
